Ski Resorts near Seoul: Which One Fits Your Trip?
Tell the tool how you plan to travel, how experienced you are and whether children or evening skiing matter. It ranks eight resorts from VISITKOREA's winter guide and shows the access, beginner and language details that guide lists. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
Planning aid only. The guide's information is from the 2025–26 season and VISITKOREA says opening dates may change with weather, so confirm everything on the resort's own site before you go. This page lists no prices because none were confirmed.
How this tool decides
Each resort gets points for the facts that VISITKOREA's guide, "12 Ski Resorts to Spend an Exciting Winter in Korea" (published November 27, 2025), states about it. The tool does not know snow quality, crowds or prices, so a high score means "the guide describes what you asked for", not "best resort".
| Your choice | Points |
|---|---|
| No car | +2 if the guide gives a train, KTX, free shuttle or short taxi route from a station |
| Day trip | +2 if the guide says the resort is close to the metro area, or gives a Seoul-area rail route of about an hour |
| First time or beginner | +2 if the guide names beginner slopes, +1 if it says slopes suit "all levels" or a mix of levels |
| Intermediate or above | +1 if the guide names beginner slopes, or says slopes suit all levels or a mix of levels |
| Children | +2 if the guide mentions sledding, a snow playground, family slopes or family-friendly facilities |
| Evening skiing | +1 if the guide lists hours running into the evening or night |
The eight resorts as the guide describes them
| Resort | Access listed | Beginners and families | Website languages listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elysian Gangchon (Chuncheon, Gangwon) | Gyeongchun Line from Yongsan Station to Baegyangni Station, about an hour, then a free shuttle | "Eight of the ten slopes are suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers" | Korean, English, Chinese (inquiry line: Korean only) |
| Jisan Forest (Icheon, Gyeonggi) | Close to the metro area, so suitable for a day trip; bus No. 12 from Icheon Intercity Bus Terminal | Beginner slope is relatively wide with a conveyor-type lift. The guide calls it a smaller resort | Korean, English, Chinese (inquiry line: Korean only) |
| Konjiam (Gwangju, Gyeonggi) | Taxi, about 10 minutes, from Gonjiam Station (Gyeonggang Line) | Many slopes reserved for beginner and intermediate skiers and families; hours listed 09:00–02:00; the resort app covers slope tickets, rental, season passes and ski lessons | Korean only (inquiry line: Korean only) |
| Mona Yongpyong (Pyeongchang, Gangwon) | Free shuttle from Jinbu Station (KTX) at 11:00 and 14:30 | "28 slopes to suit skiers of all levels"; no kids or lesson information in the guide | Korean, English, Chinese |
| Alpensia (Pyeongchang, Gangwon) | Free shuttle from Jinbu Station (KTX) at 11:00 and 15:00 | Slopes for everyone from beginners to advanced; no kids or lesson information in the guide | Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese |
| High1 (Jeongseon, Gangwon) | Free shuttle from Gohan Station or Sabuk Station; routes are on the resort website | Slopes of different difficulty levels (17 slopes, 15 of them FIS-certified and popular with advanced skiers, per the guide); no explicit beginner or kids information; the guide lists daytime hours only | Korean, English, Chinese |
| Vivaldi Park (Hongcheon, Gangwon) | The guide lists only an intercity bus from Chuncheon Intercity Bus Terminal, not a route from Seoul | Described as family-friendly, with Snowy Land sledding park; beginner suitability not specified | Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese (inquiry line: Korean only) |
| Phoenix Snow Park (Pyeongchang, Gangwon) | No access information in the guide | Panorama slope is "easy even for beginners to ski from the top"; Snow Village has a sledding area and children's playground | Korean, English |
The guide's 2025 opening dates ranged from November 21 (Yongpyong, Phoenix) to December 12 (Jisan Forest) for the resorts above. Those are last season's dates; check each resort for 2026–27.
What visitors run into
The guide notes that several of these resorts have Korean-only inquiry lines or websites (Konjiam's site is listed as Korean only), so booking lessons or rentals can mean using a translation tool or the resort's app. It also advises checking official sites first because opening schedules and slope operation can change with weather and snow conditions. If you choose a KTX-plus-shuttle resort such as Yongpyong or Alpensia, note that the listed shuttle times are only two departures a day in the guide, so build your day around them and confirm the current timetable.
Example
Inputs: no car, first time, day trip, no children, no evening skiing. Result: Elysian Gangchon and Konjiam tie at the top with 6 points each, followed by Jisan Forest with 4. Ties are listed in the order of the table above, and the tool shows the reasons for each score.
FAQ
Is the top-ranked resort the best one?
No. The score only counts what VISITKOREA's guide states. It does not measure snow, crowds or value.
Why are some resorts missing?
The guide lists twelve resorts. This page covers eight of them. The other four (Welli Hilli, O2, Oak Valley, Deogyusan) are in the guide but not in this tool; the guide gives bus, taxi or shuttle routes for them, so check it directly.
Can I book through this page?
Not at the moment. There are no booking links here; use the resort's own site or app.
